Fire season is an increasingly familiar part of living in the mountain west. During one  particularly intense fire season in Idaho, the sun burned a deep red as it crept down towards the horizon. Wildfires are tragic, but necessary. Often,  some of the most incredible sunsets happen when the right combination of smoke, stillness, and late summer sun come together.. I use this painting to remind me that there is a silver lining to every situation,  even when the situation is dire.
